Chengdu Tianfu International Airport has officially begun operations on June 27th, 2021.

With three runways, the terminal building and the corresponding supporting facilities, the airport has a total area of 710,000 m2. This massive aviation hub has the capacity to handle up to 60 million passengers per year. The cargo turnover capacity is 1.3 million tons. The construction time was about 5 years.

The city of Chengdu is the third city in China with two international airports, alongside Beijing and Shanghai. The equipment is ultra-modern and smart. For example, there is self-service check-in, a smart security check, self-boarding and other full process self-services.

The completion strengthens the airport cluster in the region and thus does justice to the new “double-city” economic region around Chengdu and Chongqing for concentrating on the enormous potential in the region and the hinterland of Sichuan.
